Mother’s Day 2021 is here. For some of us this is a great day — for some of us a sad day — or even a non-event day.
Having lost my mom when I was 9 years old to breast cancer (why I do the work I do!), Mother’s Day for decades was a sad and non-event day for me. So my heart goes out to you if this is your situation this Mother’s Day.
Since I’ve gotten older and became a mom, Mother’s Day took on a new meaning. I actually got to “celebrate” Mother’s Day!
But, really, the true meaning of Mother’s Day, that I cultivated all those years of not celebrating it, is about how we mother ourselves. Because, when we nurture, love and take the best care of ourselves, we can then mother with love– our children, fur babies, a work project, and/or whoever we show up for in the world.
Mothering ourselves can be challenging but when it’s done, it is powerful.
I invite us all into a new way to celebrate Mother’s Day today: a Nurturing Self-Mothering celebration.
This can start by asking yourself what this means to you – what does being mothered feel like or what do you want it to feel like?
How can you show up for yourself in a loving and caring way? What ways can you show the deep love and compassion and acceptance and unconditional love to yourself – whether you have others to show it to you on Mother’s Day, or not.
One way you can mother yourself is by joining an amazing group of women this Thursday 12-1:30PMCST for the Badass Healthy Women “Jump Start” Workshop. I developed this workshop so you can get nourishment, movement and mindfulness all in one place something I wish had when I started my health journey.
I’ve extended the discount as a Mother’s Day Gift to you. Check here for more info and to sign up.
After the year we just had our bodies and minds took a hit. It’s time to nourish and care for them deeply, lovingly and unconditionally.
I hope you can join us! Can’t make the date — sign up and you’ll receive the recording with recipes.
May we be nourishing, may we be moving and may we be meditating.
And, Happy Mothering Day!
