Here’s a reminder for you,
When we get stressed and really busy, we can eat waaaaay too fast – which has major effects on our digestion and our health.
Most of us don’t need to be stressed to eat fast — it’s habitual — we chomp, chomp, gulp, gulp and finish our meal in minutes.
So next time you eat, sit down and chew your food – slowly and at least 30 times!
Sounds hard? Maybe, but not really.
Once you do these 2 life changing habits (I have more), you’ll notice how much better you digest your food AND, you’ll start to heal your SIBO and/or other digestive pain.
I get it, though. Sitting down and chewing food that much and sipping drinks nice and slow can be challenging.
Our lives are busy! We typically eat on the run, in front of a computer or TV or while doing other work (like eating while cooking meals, cleaning the kitchen, or talking on our phone…). Can you relate?
Most of the people I work with with eat stressed out – quickly and mindlessly 😐
Try this; next time you eat a meal, don’t take fast, big bites and gobble down your food and drink.
There is relief when we sit down for meals and eat slowly.
So what exactly happens when you don’t slow down and chew your food intentionally?
Since digestion starts in the mouth, when you don’t chew your food, large particles – undigested food (yuck) can end up in your colon and lead to bacterial growth, which can cause various illnesses such as IBS and SIBO.
When you chew your food and eat small bites, your body digests the food as it’s supposed to do.
Sitting down and eating food slowly is more natural for your digestive system, rather than stuffing your face on the go. To properly digest, you need to be in a relaxed sitting position.
I see this all the time. Participants in my Optimal Healthy Living Programs are now taking their time eating meals. And, yay, they not only start to heal but they also;
⭐️ end up eating less,
⭐️ have better digestion,
⭐️ feel fuller,
⭐️ lose weight,
⭐️and heal their digestive pain.
Try this next time it’s mealtime, sit down, take deep belly breaths and consciously take small bites or sips and chew at least 30 times.
Make your meal a true experience. Set a place setting, turn off all technology, and talk about the food you’re eating. Set down your utensils between bites and savor what’s in front of you. I even like to light a candle. 😃
I know this works — it worked for me after years of suffering.
