Do you suffer from joint pain?
Just because we are aging, this doesn’t have to be.
For years I suffered from joint pain – particularly in my ankles, knees, and shoulders. That’s a lot of joint pain but, it is common to feel pain in more than one joint as our joints stack. And, when one is hurt – others suffer too.
Today, I can honestly say that my joints and overall health feel stronger and mostly pain free now in my 50s than I did in my 20s, 30s and 40s!
This attributes to the lifestyle I live (80/20 rule) and what I teach in my classes and programs about my three pillars: nourish (clean and toxic free food and products in AND on our body), move (strength/resistance training and stretch) and meditate. All my years of study, training, coaching, and teaching have paid off and as I age – I actually feel less joint pain!
Maybe you have guessed it? We are into # FIVE of your benefits to resistance training – the secret to our longevity – and it’s: joint health.
Joints play a crucial role in enabling the smooth movement of your body. However, as you age, the natural wear and tear of joints can lead to discomfort and reduced mobility. This decline often stems from muscle loss and weakening, which results in inadequate joint support. Also, we can experience a slight muscle and/or joint injury or “out of whack” feeling and not treat this. This is a recipe for more pain and problems for our joints. I always recommend at the first feel of a muscle or a joint hurting – treat it immediately whether it be with a healthcare provider or sometimes a muscle relaxer such as CBD with peppermint oil or Magnesium spray. Reach out if you want recommendations on clean and effective ones. In addition, our diet impacts our joint health (that is a blog for another time!).
Effective and safe resistance and strength training plays a key role in building muscle strength and strengthening the ligaments, tendons, and connective tissues that provide crucial stability to your joints.
The results? Your everyday activities become more manageable. You gain greater freedom of movement, enhanced joint function, and a decreased likelihood of experiencing discomfort or injuries. And you get to live your active lifestyle with hiking, biking, walking, etc.!
So far, we know that if we strength train with weights, resistance bands, gym equipment and even body weight (hello yoga!) –we will benefit our body and mind in so many ways. With this fitness training you get better weight management, improved hormone balance, increased fat loss and bone health and now joint health.
We have three more benefits left — and also the recommendations of just how much resistance and strength training we need each week. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, hop on over here to get your clean and safe self care. Less toxins in your body, means less inflammation and joint pain! And, stay tuned for a new Clean FRAGRANCE launch! This (using clean fragrance) is a MUST if we want to age healthy.
Lots of love, strength and healthy joints,
